The main event of the tradition of Diano Marina, where faith and folklore mix, is represented by the “Infiorata” of Corpus Christi, which is realized along the main streets of the historical city centre (Via Genala and Piazza Martiri della Libertà to Via Cavour).

The “Infiorata” is organized since 1963, on the initiative of the “Azienda Autonoma di Soggiorno e Turismo”, developing what has already happened spontaneously for many years: nowadays it has become much more a touristic event related to the amount and variety of flowers grown in our Region.

It begins with the presentation of simple compositions inspired by religious subjects, which every year are becoming increasingly complex, completed and enriched with frames that also define the carpet made along the roads.

The evening and the night before Corpus Christi the subjects are drawn with chalk drawings taking care to separate different fields of colored petals. Early in the morning the carpet of flower petals covers the entire road surface creating a very impressive spectacle .

Creator and performer of the work, supported by many fans and volunteers called “Gruppo Infioratori Dianesi”, is Mr. Agostino Ardissone  who offers, every year, different subjects with  remarkable color effects.
