The tower is located at the highest point of Capo Berta, at 267 m above sea level, and its high position makes it possible to look at more sighting than defense functions: along the coasts raised armored towers for the defense of the territory, Heights with wide view on the sea were the lantern towers, mostly for signaling and armed only for their own defense. It can then be assumed that this is a sighting tower.

The Tower is located in the hinterland of Diano Marina in the hamlet of Diano Gorleri in the Colle San Leonardo area. On the main road, via Diano Calderina, there is a detour with the sign indicating the path to the tower.
